HP SOAP - Hardware and Ingredients. April 01 2020, 0 Comments

So here it goes that recipe for my AMAZING HP soap.

I am sharing two recipes, one using exclusively my products and a cheaper to make version that uses shea butter and coconut oil.

The tutorial with pictures and videos will be online in the next two days.

THE HARDWARE:

  • a scale, you can find decent ones on eBay for about 11 bucks. In soap making, everything is measured by weight, even the liquids.

  • a food thermometer.

  • a crock-pot (for my personal soaps I use my own kitchen crock-pot, since the lye will be totally saponified by the end of the process I think it is safe, some people disagree).

  • a stick blender.

  • a mold (a milk or juice box will work, just turn it sideways and cut one side. No need to line).

  • protective gear if needed - gloves, glasses, mask, an apron.

THE INGREDIENTS:

  • sodium hydroxide (lye) - for a small amount check out this site, if you want to buy larger amounts you can try soapmaking stores or even eBay.

  • fragrance - depending on it - EO or fragrance oils - you will need about 0.5 oz. to 1 oz. I prefer not to use scents, this is such a special face soap, it doesn't really need to smell good too.

  • distilled water.

RECIPE ONE - CHICA PRODUCTS

  • Babassu oil - 2 oz.

  • Brazil nut oil - 4 oz.

  • Cupuacu butter - 8 oz.

  • Murumuru butter - 2 oz.

  • Andiroba oil - 4 oz.

  • Castor oil - 2 oz. (this oil has a very unique fatty acid profile and adds special properties to the soap, I am selling some of my personal oil in 2 oz bottles but you can find it pretty much anywhere).

  • SUPERFAT OIL OR BUTTER - 1 oz. For the superfat you will use the oil or butter you want the soap to have the properties - for example, add a "hair" oil and it is a shampoo bar, add pracaxi and it is a great bar for hyper pigmentation, you can also add a butter or a blend.

  • Distilled water - 8.36 oz.

  • Sodium hydroxide - 3.11 oz.

RECIPE TWO

  • Coconut oil - 4 oz.

  • Brazil nut oil - 4 oz.

  • Shea butter - 8 oz.

  • Andiroba oil - 4 oz.

  • Castor oil - 2 oz. (this oil has a very unique fatty acid profile and adds special properties to the soap, I am selling some of my personal oil in 2 oz bottles but you can find it pretty much anywhere)
