These sets were brought into Brazil by a couple of Colombian Zenú people and I was lucky enough to snatch two. Hopefully I will meet them again and continue carrying this beautiful, culturally important jewelry.
"The Zenú is a pre-Columbian culture in Colombia. The Zenú civilization peaked from about 200 BCE to about 1600 CE, constructing major waterworks and producing gold ornaments. The gold that was often buried with their dead lured the Spanish conquistadors, who looted much of the gold. With the arrival of the Spaniards, the tribe almost died out due to excessive taxation, forced labor, and western diseases. The Zenú language disappeared around 200 years ago. However, the 2018 Colombian Census showed 307,091 Zenú people in Colombia."
Care: These are natural material, water and sun may make their colors dull (they will still be pretty), Please use clear beeswax based balms, or a light oil to polish them if needed.
Every time we consume Amazon sustainable products we give the local and indigenous people an alternative to logging and farming which are the two largest destroyers of such an important ecosystem.
NOT FOR KIDS who like to swallow pretty colorful things, keep away from your dogs as they seem to love these seeds!
