Muiraquitã

The Muiraquitã is one of the most recognizable symbols of the Brazilian Amazon. Traditionally carved from green stone and often shaped like a frog or other animal, these small amulets have been found throughout the lower Amazon and are surrounded by centuries of history and legend.

Over time, the Muiraquitã became associated with protection and good fortune and remains an important symbol of Amazonian culture. Today, its distinctive shape continues to appear in jewelry and decorative pieces made by artisans throughout the region.
